Human Resources Intern (Summer)

Why this Role is Important

GoKart Labs is a small, digital innovation agency with aggressive growth plans and some exciting growth challenges to solve for.  I am an HR team of one who is looking for an intern to help drive key talent and business priorities forward. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to not only participate in the work but also own it. What You Will Learn

You will gain direct, applicable experience in three critical talent functions: Diversity & Inclusion, Employee Engagement and Staffing. You will also have the ability to explore innovative, new ways of thinking about HR.


What You Will Be Doing

You will be working directly with the VP of Talent on the following:

  • Diversity & Inclusion:
    • You will be an active participant on our internal Diversity & Inclusion Core Team.
    • This includes attending and facilitating internal team meetings, weighing in with your opinion around vision, priorities and overall concepts.
    • Identify and receive assignments/to-do’s in order to keep the team on track.
    • You may occasionally be asked to attend diversity-related events and act as a GoKart representative with external partners and organizations.
  • Employee Engagement:
    • You will review GoKart’s annual employee survey results and prepare and present an overview to the leadership team and staff noting key strengths, weaknesses and year-over-year trends.
    • You will facilitate group/employee feedback sessions to gain additional insight on key survey themes
    • You will collaborate with teams to create documented action plans that address key feedback themes.
  • Staffing:
    • You will gain exposure to recruitment and staffing by shadowing/participating in candidate interviews, facilitating offers and onboarding processes.
    • You may also be responsible for scheduling candidate interviews.
  • At the end of the summer, you will share a final retrospective of your work that you can show off on Slideshare.

  • You are organized and manage your time well but you can also be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and needs.
  • You’re self-motivated and independent but not a lone wolf. 
  • You are naturally curious. You want to learn as much about the mechanics of business as you do about HR (because you know that in order to be an effective talent leader, you must be a great business leader).
  • You are resourceful and a natural problem solver.  You may not know all answers but you don’t let that stand in your way of progress.
  • You use good judgment. You know when to trust your gut and when you need to ask for help.
  • You’re positive and fun to work with, and at the same time, not afraid of hard work


What You Have Done

  • You are currently going to school for bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • Familiarity with Mac/iOS preferred.
  • Some basic experience with Excel, Keynote/Powerpoint and/or adept at learning new technologies and tools.
